And apparently the FXX that was in the show belongs to Schumacher which would indicate why he was there in the first place - and he probably didn't want anyone else driving it hence the joke of him being 'revealed' as the Stig!

(Repasted from F1 pages-I don't know where I am now)
Have to say that it seemed quite obvious who it would be under there as/when then unmasked him. Then when they had that black Ferrari FXX on the show that you can buy for a £mil, but only use at Ferrari tracks; it was glaringly obvious.
I did enjoy the interview though. Not the first time Clarkson has interviewed Michael. I recall him playing slapsies with him for his show Speed a decade or so ago.
I did laugh when he asked Michael whether he was finding watching one person win all the time this season boring. Plus the idea of him driving a Fiat Croma is hilarious.
The actual Stig is Ben Collins, anyway.

Yea I am still pretty convinced that the real stig is Ben Collins - this was a publicity stunt as was pretty much confirmed by Jezza at the end of the program. Schumacher pretty much did all the test and development work on the Ferrari FXX at Fiorano so I'm not surprised they bort him over to do the lap on the TG track - pretty impressive time!
The interview was hilarious though!

I guess because it's car you can buy, that time is allowed to stay on the Hot Laps board (unlike the Renault F1 a few years back).
Was a great and very funny interview and Michael was quite warm and relaxed.

i wanna see a proper schumi lap. or do you think it will kill his ego as hamilton would be faster

I'm quite sure that if Lewis had attempted a second lap in the reasonably priced car, his front right tyre would have de-laminated somewhere near the Hammerhead, pitching him into the grass.
Michael would probably have been 2 tenths slower, but could have delivered that lap all day long and when he came in, the tyres would look new and the brakes would be in good nick.

Just remembered that Eddie Jordan said at the very end of F1 coverage that the Stig was Michael Schumacher. What a gobshite.
