Very sad that an 80-year-old man gets punched to the ground and kicked in the head under any circumstances.
I don't know if you recall a few years ago when the wheels off Bernie's Mercedes were stolen. He didn't report it as a crime and told Brundle on the grid at the next race that he was confident of getting them back.
I think that was because a man in Bernie's position would have teams of private detectives and, frankly, lots of bribery money to find out where the wheels went and get them back. We never heard the outcome, but I'd wager the wheels turned up unsolicited once the thieves realised their mistake.
I sincerely hope that Bernie charges his teams with finding his muggers.

Bernie would likely know who did it being little more than a crim himself.
It's hard to feel sorry for Bernie getting mugged as he has been mugging people for years. At least the people who did him were honest enough to be up front about it. We'd have a completely different F1 if Bernie was as honest as a punch in the face.
